Business Operations Co-op Student

 Job Title: Business Operations Co-op 

 Reports to: Branch Manager 

Hours: Full-Time, Seasonal May – August (4 Months) 

Salary: $ 20.00 per hour 

Description: 

This position supports the daily operations of a wholesale/retail distribution company that operates two branches and an online store. The company is expanding and taking advantage of modern technologies including line of business software, communications applications, social media, and online store applications. Student will work as part of a team of professionals to deliver high quality customer service and continue to aggressively grow market share. 

 In addition to the main Operations duties, Co-op staff will be exposed to other aspects of the business including finance, accounting, HR, and management functions as a part of the professional development process. Students will have access to senior management and receive insight into management consideration of operating the business. 

 Wes-Tech is well positioned to provide a full business experience while working for a locally owned business. Wes-Tech has extensive experience employing co-op students from both Camosun and UVIC. This is a work term that will showcase all aspects of a business and might be best termed a "Where the rubber hits the road" experience.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Coordinate shipping & receiving with production timelines and customer / vendor requirements 
  • Developing Online Order Management Processes 
  • Maximizing the use of ERP software components 
  • Ongoing development of business systems 
  • Coordinating Online Orders Management and utilizing e-commerce software 
  • Answering inquiries online, by phone, and in person. 
  • Coordinate warehousing and shipping 
  • Assist business customers at the order desk 

Skills and Abilities: 

  • Professional and courteous communication via phone, email and in person 
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Outlook 
  • Exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize and multitask 
  • Great attention to detail, positive attitude, and good interpersonal skills 
  • Accurately read numbers and identify products 
  • Strong math and computer skills 
  • Lift up to 50lbs alone, more with assistance 
  • Eagerness to learn new products, procedures, and processes

Hours: Full/Part Time Positions Available, Seasonal March - September  

Salary: $ 19.00 per hour Great benefit package offered upon successful completion of probationary period for full time employees. 

Description: 

Cashiers are important members of the customer service team. Our cashiers are adept at using the point-of-sale system and elements of the business information system to help customers.  Cashiers will develop a working relationship with our regular customers and have the option of moving up at Wes-Tech as they gain experience. 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Promptly and warmly greet all customers. 
  • Provide outstanding customer service. 
  • Manage transactions using computer system. 
  • Receive and process payments by cash, cheque, credit card or on account. 
  • Promote products, features, and clearance items 
  • Answer telephones professionally and pleasantly. 
  • Effectively communicate with customers and staff. 
  • Assist in maintaining appearance of the branch. 
  • Report backorders and or material discrepancies. 
  • Accurately perform cycle counts. 

Skills and Abilities:
